The Gates Cambridge Scholarship covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge. Also, provides additional and discretionary funding.
Cost Coverage by Cambridge Scholarship
- Covers the University Composition Fee
- Provides maintenance allowance for a single student (£20,000 for 12 months) – for PhD scholars the award is for up to 4 years.
- Cost for one economy single airfare at both the beginning and end of the course
- Also, covers visa costs & and the cost of the Immigration Health Surcharge.

Discretionary Funding Cost
- Academic development funding – from up to £500 to up to £2,000, depending on the duration of the degree, conferences, and courses.
- Dependent Children Allowance – up to £11,604 for one child and up to £16,548 for two or more children. But doesn’t allow partner funding.
- Bears the cost for your Field visits and other related works.
- If you want Maternity/Paternity funding then, you may apply to intermit your studies for up to 6 months and continue to receive your maintenance allowance during this time
- The discretionary funding also provides Hardship funding that covers your additional costs besides studies.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Both the citizens of the UK and International Students can apply for this.
- All candidates must have a minimum of 3.80 cumulative GPA to be selected for this scholarship. However, Candidates with cumulative undergraduate GPAs below 3.80 at the time of application require a commitment to drive positive change in their chosen field.
- Applicants must have a good record of social and extra-curricular performances
- Candidates should contact a supervisor and must be competent enough to defend the field in which they choose to study at the University of Cambridge.

APPLICATION PROCESS of Gates Cambridge scholarship UK 2024-25
- First, Applicants submit their application for admission and the Gates Cambridge scholarship via the University’s Graduate Application Portal.
- Then, apply for a specific program/course of study.
- After that, provide all the relevant details about yourself, your academic background, plans, and suitability for the proposed course.
- Although, you can apply to multiple courses but it requires a separate application for each course.
- You need to write a personal statement with a 500-3000 word limit which must describe your background, achievements, experiences, and future aims.
- Also, need to write a Research proposal and a letter of reference which are the mandatory parts of this scholarship.
- Finally, fill in all requirements, upload documents and submit the application form.
