GRIPS Young Leaders Program MEXT Scholarship invites applications for Undergraduate and Master’s level students. This program waivers 100% scholarships to domestic and International students. In addition, develops cordial relations among diverse nations and enhances policy planning initiatives by building a network among nations thereby deepening their comprehension of Japan. GRIPS Young Leaders Program MEXT Scholarship 2024-25 Benefits

  • A monthly stipend of JPY147, 000 for the 2 years of education of your Master’s degree students.
  • JPY148,000 for PhD courses so they can manage this amount for their research and other works.
  • Covers full tuition fee for the Undergraduate and Master’s programs.
  • 117,000 yen for the Undergraduate students.
  • Additional 3,000 yen for conducting research.
  • An economy-class air ticket from your home country to Japan when you get enrolled and an economy-class air ticket from Japan to your home country upon completion of degree in Japan.
  • Also it covers cost of health, mishaps and personal liability insurance

Who can apply?

  • Students need to provide proof of English Language Proficiency test with a minimum of score of 6.0 in IELTS/ a score of 79 in TOEFL.
  • Applicants should have at least 3 years of work experience in their home countries before applying to this.
  • Candidates graduated, or expect to graduate, from an undergraduate or higher degree program.
  • The age limit must be 34 or younger for Research Students and 24 or younger for Undergraduate students
  • For Master’s and research students, the duration is 2 years including a 6 month training period of the Japanese language.
  • Active engagement of students with public policy affairs and it requires certifications.

How to apply for GRIPS Young Leaders Program MEXT Scholarship 2024-25

  • The applications can be submitted via:

1) Embassy Recommendation

2) University Recommendation)

  • It is required to get “Embassy Recommendation”, so, applicants must submit their applications to the Japanese embassy (or consulate) in their home countries for the initial testing.
  • Students need to opt for an academic advisor, by searching from webpages of the university.
  • Then, contact the prospective academic advisor to get a Passing Certificate of the First Screening from a Japanese diplomatic mission, and request a Letter of Provisional Acceptance from selection committee.
  • Applicants can contact directly or through the administrative office of the graduate school.
  • Or they can also apply via online application process through the Admissions Assistance Office (AAO).
  • After getting a provisional letter candidates need to apply for university and scholarship as well.
  • Finally contact your academic advisor for further processes.
