The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS Scholarship), formerly known as KGSP (Korean Government Scholarship), stands as one of the world’s most prestigious fully-funded scholarships. This program aims to offer international students the chance to pursue advanced studies in undergraduate and graduate programs at higher education institutions in South Korea. It invites around 2200 Graduate students to facilitate them with a fully funded scholarship so that they can smoothly run their academic endeavors. Hence, foster International student exchange and deepen mutual cooperation between Korea and other participating countries.
Additionally, there is Embassy Track Quota for Overseas Koreans, Korean Language Teaching Professional and International Students from 154 countries. The successful Master’s and Doctoral candidates will be awarded with Fully Funded Scholarships that covers their tuition fee, cost of living, accommodation and other costs. GSK Scholarship 2024-25 in South Korea Benefits
- An economy class flight ticket from GKS scholar’s home country to Korea and then back to home country is provided for all awardees.
- Amount of 200,000 KRW to cover the cost of settlement.
- In addition monthly Allowance of 1,000,000 KRW per month for degree program and 1,500,000 KRW per month for Research Program.
- Liberal Arts and Social Science majors: 210,000 KRW per semester
- Natural Science and Engineering majors: 240,000 KRW per semester
- Moreover, the training fee of Korean Language training is free for all scholars.
- Medical allowances of 20,000 KRW per month
- Also, additional grants of 100,000 KRW per month to the students of TOPIK level 5 or 6.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students from all Nationalities are eligible to apply. However, Korean citizens and dual citizenship holders who are not eligible for this scholarship.
- For Master’s degree program all students must poses 4 year Bachelor’s degree and for Doctoral programs it is required to have a Master’s degree. Further, for Research programs applicants must hold a degree or a level of education equivalent to or higher than a Master’s degree.
- Applicants must have the following C.G.P.A or grades to be eligible
1) 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5, 3.23/5.0
2) Score percentile should be 80% or above on a 100-point scale
3)The top 20% within one’s class
4) lastly, a TOPIK level 5 or 6
- Medical Certificate from a licensed hospital is required which must show candidates good mental and physical health. However, any involvement to drug and other health hazardous activity will lead to cancellation of admission.
- It should be noted that the Previous or current GKS scholars can only re-apply for a higher degree program once.
- Required Languages: English & Korean
- Korean: Students should have a valid TOPIK certificate based on their TOPIK level
- English: Applicants with valid English proficiency certificates based on their test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.)

Application Procedure of GSK Scholarship 2024-25 in South Korea
- Firstly, all candidates need to apply for the majors from the GKS-G Available Universities & Fields of Study.
There are two means of submitting the application forms enlisted below:
- Embassy Track: Applicants who are willing to apply through this must submit their application documents to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in their respective countries of citizenship. As a result, students can apply to 3 different desired universities and all available fields of study offered by 64 designated universities.
- University Track: The applicants need to create their online account then fill their forms and submit documents accordingly. Here students get the option to choose one university among 67 Universities.
- Then the applications will be accessed and evaluated by the selection committee based on students’ personal statements, CV’s, Academic transcripts and other educational credentials.
- After that, the successful candidates receive an email to confirm their selection of University.
- Finally, after all assessments the chosen students get an email of confirmation of GSK Scholarship and University admission.
